Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month — Together we stamp out admin burdens and free up time for what counts

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month — a time when we reflect, raise awareness and take action in support of those impacted by breast cancer. For us at GetStamps.ca, it’s also a meaningful opportunity to give back in a tangible way: by offering our stamps or embossers to breast-cancer organisations so they can reduce administrative burden and redirect time and energy into the work that matters most.

Why this matters

Breast cancer remains one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among women in Canada. Canadian Cancer Society notes that this month alone “nearly 2,600 people in Canada will hear the words, ‘You have breast cancer.’” Canadian Cancer Society+1 What’s more: behind diagnosis and treatment there are many practical, administrative tasks for charities and support organisations — from tracking mail, logging donations, managing files, sending acknowledgements, and more. That’s where the right tool (like a customised stamp or embosser) can help free up valuable time, reduce repetitive tasks and allow more energy for outreach, care and support.

How we’re offering help

We’re reaching out to select charitable organisations working in the breast cancer space and offering to donate one of our high-quality stamps or embossers to them. The idea:

  • Provide a tool that helps streamline everyday paperwork and admin
  • Free up volunteer or staff time so they can focus on supporting clients, fundraising, awareness initiatives
  • Create a ripple effect: by helping one admin process, the organisation can redirect many hours to impact-driven work

We believe that by providing this small but meaningful support, we can help organisations devote less time to repetitive admin and more time to community impact.

Organisations we’re proud to spotlight

Here are a few of the organisations we admire for their work — and we’d like to invite you, our community, to support them too.

Canadian Breast Cancer Network (CBCN)

CBCN is Canada’s only patient-directed national breast cancer health charity. They focus on education, advocacy, and giving voice to patients’ concerns. Why it matters: Breast cancer affects many lives, and advocacy ensures that the needs of patients (including younger women and underserved groups) are heard. How you can help: Consider contributing to their advocacy fund, sharing their educational resources, or volunteering to help in outreach efforts.

Breast Cancer Canada

Breast Cancer Canada(formerly known as the Breast Cancer Society of Canada) funds breast cancer research focused on precision oncology, personalised treatments, and diverse patient groups. Why it matters: Research is critical — breast cancer isn’t a single disease; many subtypes exist and need tailored treatments. How you can help: Make a donation, arrange a workplace match gift, or host a local fundraiser in your community.

IBC Network Foundation Canada

IBC Network Canada is dedicated specifically to the rare and often under-recognised form of breast cancer known as inflammatory breast cancer (IBC). Why it matters: IBC is aggressive and often misdiagnosed. Awareness and targeted support are vital. How you can help: Spread awareness about IBC in your network, support their information campaigns, and donate to help fund education and research.

Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC)

Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC) supports young adults across Canada as they navigate the unique challenges of a cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. Their programs build community, provide mental health resources, and offer opportunities for connection and healing. Why it matters: A cancer diagnosis in young adulthood brings unique social, emotional, and financial challenges. YACC ensures no young adult faces cancer alone. How you can help: Donate directly through their giving page, or share their resources to help connect others who may benefit from their support network.

How our community can contribute

Here are some ways you and others can get involved this Breast Cancer Awareness Month:

  • Share awareness: Post on social media about the month, the organisations, and the impact of early detection and support. Even a simple share can help.
  • Donate funds or time: Every dollar counts — and so does volunteering your time, whether helping run an event, administrative support, or offering your services.
  • Host a fundraiser or event: Whether big or small, a local bake sale, pink-themed event, charity walk/drive, or even a friendly office competition can generate both awareness and funds.
  • Support administration-relief efforts: For smaller charities, a gift of time, services or tools (like what we’re offering) can be as valuable as a monetary gift — because freeing up staff/volunteer time can multiply impact.
  • Encourage regular screening & self-check awareness: Help spread the message that regular check-ups, self-examinations and mammograms matter. Early detection saves lives. Canadian Cancer Society+1

Why stamping matters

You might ask: “Why a stamp or embosser?” Here’s why:

  • Administrative tasks (mail-outs, acknowledgment letters, file handling, donations tracking) take time — time that could be spent on direct client service, outreach, or research support.
  • A well-made stamp adds efficiency, consistency and professionalism to those tasks.
  • By providing this support to a charity, we help reduce one barrier to them focusing on mission-critical work. At GetStamps.ca, we believe that helping organisations work smarter — not just harder — is part of the change we can all be part of.

Final thoughts

This October, as we don our pink ribbons, think about what you can do: share a message, support a charity, volunteer just a little time, or help with a practical gift. At GetStamps.ca, we’re proud to step in by offering admin-support tools to charities that do frontline work in the breast-cancer space. But we also recognise: our community’s awareness, voice, and action are equally essential. Together, we can make a difference — not just in raising funds, but in raising time, raising efficiency, raising hope. Thank you for being part of this journey with us. — The GetStamps.ca Team
